In Editing Mode

Last weekend I went out and spent a few hours taking engagement photos for my cousin and her dude. Very hot, very sunny and always a good time. I have been spending the last two days hunkered down in front of Lightroom in editing mode. Expect a set of photos soon.

By the way, the pooping photo was my idea. Go figure. Gotta make these kinds of sessions fun somehow, right?

The inspiration for this set of photos is from a bike ride that I went on yesterday into some areas around the apartment that I hadn’t visited before. Lots of nice plants, animals, water and rusty industry. Yesterday I had my phone with me so I snapped a bunch of Instagram photos but this morning I went back out with my DSLR to capture some more wonderful scenes around the city.

I went out yesterday and spent a good chunk of my morning taking photos downtown. I got to ride the bus with Naners and see her off to work. After that I just started walking towards the lake. It wasn’t a great morning (rained a little) but it quickly took a turn for the better and the sun came out. Thankfully that happened because I hadn’t brought an umbrella and really didn’t want to get stuck away from a train or bus in pouring rain with my gear. Anyway, I ended up walking all the way from Willis Tower to Adler Planetarium (about 2.6 miles with my route) and I just sat there enjoying the scenery and people watching. After I’d had enough of that scene I walked back downtown (another 2.7 mile route) and I snagged a train home after a quick visit to Central Camera. It ended up being a good morning and it yielded some decent photos. Hit the jump to see some and check back tomorrow for the other half of photos.

I decided to take a little bike ride this morning before getting down to work. Sunny skies, calm beaches and a light breeze made it the perfect morning to go and relax by the water. Hit the jump to see a bunch more photos from around the water.

Friday Favorites: Mohawk

Mohawk is one of those “for fun” images that I snapped one summer at my aunt/uncles house. Not too much of a story here. I had just given my cousin his first mohawk haircut and decided that we needed a photo to commemorate the event. I dragged him outside, positioned him at the edge of the garage so that he had some nice light coming across his face and into his eyes and I snapped maybe 5 shots.

His eyes are fantastic and I boosted them a little in Lightroom and the rest was good. I wish the ladder and lawn tools weren’t in the background of the photo but that’s just what happens when taking photos on the fly.
