A bit of boredom this morning got me playing with gradients in Illustrator. Color is always something I’m working on getting better at and this just came out to be one of those random sessions where I try something new. I didn’t know what to make but this is what turned up. Kind of looks like an old hard-disk. Weird.
I took on a bit of freelance work recently. While working on some editorial layouts a small story came along that needed a graphic about golf. I immediately wanted something simple with not a lot of color or too much detail. Above are three options I was playing with, ultimately deciding on the center design. Hit the jump to see some alternate versions that feature some funky patterns.
I have a download for y’all today. After realizing I didn’t have a handy, all-in-one download link available for the fonts I’ve created I decided to remedy that situation. This collection features fonts that I have created from scratch, some updated/tweaked versions of existing typefaces and some collaborations I did with other designers/illustrators. Up above is a sample image of each typeface. Click the image above or the link below to begin your download.
BUSCEMAY is officially over. I think a good estimate is that we watched 90% of the things we set out to watch and I honestly feel that is was a pretty good effort on our end. I didn’t believe that it would be as difficult as it turned out to be to watch some TV and movies but the planning of it all around our regular viewing schedule turned out to be quite strenuous. In the end we failed on a few fronts but came away with this as being a big success.
Now enough of that mumbo-jumbo. I wanted to write this blog post quite a while ago but I never had the time with all of that movie watching I had to endure. I would like to go through a quick rundown of the design of the calendar and portrait for y’all. Hit the jump and come for a ride with me.
Here is a little update on the Steve Buscemi illustration I’m working on. It’s still not done but I thought I’d give a little update on it’s progress. I just have a little more tweaking with the eyes and then adding some final details. It should be completed next weekend. Possibly this week if I feel up to a few extra hours of work.
I took some time tonight to get started on a shirt graphic for my cousin’s trip to Washington D.C. this summer. I’m thinking about doing something with him and the Lincoln Memorial so I threw together a quick illustration of the memorial to get me going. I’ll be doing some more tweaks later this week or this weekend.
