This week’s pick is a recent addition to the collection. I have been looking for a copy of Aerosmith’s Greatest Hits (1980 – Columbia Records) record for a little while now and I’ve even passed on a few of them when I found them in stores in Columbus and Cleveland. Aerosmith’s Greatest Hits is a compilation of their best tunes (obviously that’s subjective) from before their early-90’s resurgence. This album is full of goodies and it won’t disappoint even the casual Aerosmith fan like myself.
I got into this album maybe a year or so ago, probably right before I landed my most recent job in Cleveland. I was looking for something that had the hits of Aerosmith’s younger, more wild days after I remembered having a greatest hits collection of theirs in my youth. It was a CD with a blue cover and it was likely the Big Ones compilation. Since I liked that album I decided this would be a good place to start over again and I began streaming this album in its place.
Vinyl Wednesday is back! I can’t say for sure how long it will last as we quickly creep into the holiday season but I’m going to do my best to keep it going until at LEAST the new year. Now, enough of that shop talk and let’s get down to business.
This is one badass band from Cleveland, OH. I’ve written about Ringworm before (here) and my opinion hasn’t changed much. This 4-song split single is totally killer. I’m going to focus mainly on Ringworm as they are the whole reason I bought this 7″.
The once-mighty Chimaira heads up Vinyl Wednesday this week and wouldn’t ya know it, it’s another picture disc. I think I own three total picture discs and I’ve now covered two of them. Never been a huge fan of picture discs but I couldn’t pass this up as it was $3 on some metal merch website. I wish it was one of the regular versions of the album but for a cheap chance at some Cleveland metal, I’ll deal.
Since this is a picture disc I really don’t have a lot to say about the design. There’s a really killer evolution of the “chaos” symbol on the front, some nice photography and a pretty neat treatment for the typography on the back. I actually really dig the look of this picture disc, which is one of the reasons I bought it. Hit the jump to see some pictures and to find out what I think of the music on this album.
A little while back, my mom and I rode out early one morning to get some snaps of the bikes in the wonderful morning glow. It was a nice, warm morning and a great little ride.
Lately it’s been not so great outside. Rain all day today, cloudy most other days. When it is sunny I try to get out and ride. I even ventured into Kent last week to see a friend I haven’t talked with in a LONG time. Good times were had by all. Sadly, it appears that summer has finally come to a close. The days aren’t creeping into the 70’s anymore. I’m feeling lucky if it just slides into the 60’s. It looks like I’ll soon be riding the bike to Clyde for the last time and to ready it for winter work or just storage.
So, in honor of this summer bidding us adieu, I offer up some photos of that warm mornings ride that seems so long ago. At the top of the post is what I took with me that morning on our ride. Helmet, gloves, glasses, camera bag and all that stuff. Not too much but it definitely freaks me out having that much expensive gear on that back of this motorcycle. Anyway, there are a few photos of my mom’s bike but a bunch more of mine since it requires infinitely less retouching. Check ’em out!
I was able to squeeze in a little photo editing on some bikes yesterday in between editing engagement photos and working on some design projects. Good stuff fo sho. I spent a fair amount of time on that Harley image to get it looking just how I wanted. Real sexy stuff. It makes me realize I need some chrome or gloss paint on my bike.
Naners and I hit up the Lakewood Car Kulture Show last weekend. Lots of good cars, sexy bikes and crusty people. It was a decent show but we got there around 3pm and the cars were already starting to roll out. There was not a cloud in the sky so I have no clue why these guys felt the need to get out of there so quickly. Also, it apparently shuts down at 5pm. Not cool. I don’t know if I’ve ever been to a car show that ended that early. Oh well. It was still packed with lots of good visual treats to take in. Hit the jump and check out a bunch of photos from the day.
I bought a motorcycle earlier this week. It may not be the most practical, comfortable or smart decision I’ve made since moving back to Ohio but it is something I needed. Transportation is key to getting around here and motorcycles are cheaper to own/run so that’s what I went for.
