The time finally came when the Snot Rocket lost it’s propulsion system. I suppose it’s going to happen with any drag car; a thrown piston, a wreck or SOMETHING will cause a catastrophic failure and a new engine will be needed to get the vehicle down the road again. This time it was some bent push rods and an offset valve or two (I think). Regardless of the problems, the 350 V8 is toast and a big block Chevy engine is the new hotness.
I rode the motorcycle to Clyde two weeks ago with every intention of taking photos of Bernie and Jason while they worked at this new engine. Of course something comes up and I spent hours toiling away at my motorcycle and didn’t make it out to the shop. Well, last week I was at Kustom Persuasion working on my hunk-of-junk El Camino and I managed to snag some photos of the two mad scientists still hard at work on that big block. Bernie takes care of the big block Chevy engine that will be replacing the 350 and Jason was working on the interior of Snot Rocket while also tending to my needs when I needed the help. This El Camino is turning into it’s own saga but I don’t really want to get into that. Instead, just peep some photos of Bernie and J-Money. I can honestly say I miss taking photos at the shop. Every angle is a challenge and the lighting is always absolute shit. That means more time in post-production but it’s always worth it as their beautiful mugs are sure to light up your day. This July 4th holiday weekend was supposed to be spent on the motorcycle and at the drag races but the weather has made that a non-starter. The drags are dry but it’s wet where I am so that was a no-go. Hopefully the rest of the weekend is a little drier and I get on the bike a bunch. As a consolation I offer these photos from the 2016 Autumn Cruise to the weather gods. Give em a peek and see some pretty stuff. This is the last round of photos so take them in and look ahead to possibly seeing more from later this year.
Well, well well…it has been a VERY long time since I’ve posted any car photos. There are numerous reasons for that: life, motorcycles, jobs, lack of quality computer, and more. I finally fixed one of those reasons when I recently bought myself a newly updated iMac. Lightroom is now running quick and smooth so I’m getting back in the saddle with these photos. Check ’em out and if you like something then give a comment. I’m working on potentially selling some photos from my various car outings. I hope that it can be a small revenue stream that also gets me out and about over the summer. If you are interested in a print then hit me up in the comments or by email/text if you know me personally.
I’m back with a few more photos from the recent Upper Sandusky Autumn Cruise that was held on September 24. There’s some good stuff in this collection. Shiny paint, bright chrome and colors abound. There’s even a bit of the Halloween spirit mixed in there. Check it out!
A bit of boredom this morning got me playing with gradients in Illustrator. Color is always something I’m working on getting better at and this just came out to be one of those random sessions where I try something new. I didn’t know what to make but this is what turned up. Kind of looks like an old hard-disk. Weird.
This is a pretty cool pick for Vinyl Wednesday. Terror, the Cleveland-based death/thrash metal band (not the LA-based hardcore band) comes out with a total rager at the end of 2015. Legion of Gore is a whopping 2 songs but they are totally killer. Re-recorded versions of demos that are 27 years old. Tell me, how can you beat that? I picked this up after seeing a post online from the fella who did backing vocals and I decided to give it a shot. I had heard of them but never listened to any of their tunes. I am now sad it’s taken me so long.
The artwork on the front cover is a painting by Antichrist Kramer entitled “Sanguimantic Heir To The Walachian Throne”. Yeah. How’s that for some weird shit? There is a pretty cool type treatment on the back jacket to check out too.
The vinyl is listed as Red & Black marble but it’s really a “merge” pressing. Not sure why the mix up.
Anyway, give it a look-see and then go out a buy your copy as quick as possible.
A little while back, my mom and I rode out early one morning to get some snaps of the bikes in the wonderful morning glow. It was a nice, warm morning and a great little ride.
Lately it’s been not so great outside. Rain all day today, cloudy most other days. When it is sunny I try to get out and ride. I even ventured into Kent last week to see a friend I haven’t talked with in a LONG time. Good times were had by all. Sadly, it appears that summer has finally come to a close. The days aren’t creeping into the 70’s anymore. I’m feeling lucky if it just slides into the 60’s. It looks like I’ll soon be riding the bike to Clyde for the last time and to ready it for winter work or just storage.
So, in honor of this summer bidding us adieu, I offer up some photos of that warm mornings ride that seems so long ago. At the top of the post is what I took with me that morning on our ride. Helmet, gloves, glasses, camera bag and all that stuff. Not too much but it definitely freaks me out having that much expensive gear on that back of this motorcycle. Anyway, there are a few photos of my mom’s bike but a bunch more of mine since it requires infinitely less retouching. Check ’em out!
